What's so different about gelato?

Gelato is a traditional Italian frozen dessert, and while it may look similar to ice cream, each offers its own unique experience. At Gelato Junction, we celebrate both—because there’s something special about every scoop.

One of the biggest differences comes down to how they’re made and served. Our gelato is crafted fresh in small batches right here in the shop each day, following authentic Italian methods. This process creates a smooth, dense, and silky texture with rich, full flavor.

Ice cream brings its own classic appeal, offering a light, creamy texture that’s just as satisfying and refreshing. It’s a timeless favorite that pairs perfectly with everything from a simple cone to one of our decadent baked treats.

At Gelato Junction, we’re proud to offer the best of both worlds, with 12 flavors of gelato and 16 flavors of ice cream available in-store every day. Whether you’re in the mood for something rich and traditional or light and familiar, there’s always something new to discover.

How is the texture and color of gelato different from ice cream?

Gelato and ice cream each offer something special, and part of the fun is discovering their unique qualities. While they may seem alike, their preparation and serving styles create two distinct treats. Gelato is traditional and ingredient-focused, known for its pure, rich flavors. Ice cream, on the other hand, comes in a wide variety of classic and playful flavors, perfect for those seeking something familiar or adventurous. Both deliver a delicious experience, whether you crave comfort or creativity.

At Gelato Junction, we focus on quality and freshness. Our flavors are crafted in small batches with real ingredients for the best taste and texture. Texture is a key difference: traditional Italian gelato is smooth, dense, and silky—never icy or grainy—and is served slightly warmer (around -12°C to -14°C/10°F to 7°F) to enhance its flavor and soft, luxurious feel. Ice cream is lighter, airier, and creamier, served colder for that classic, refreshing scoop everyone loves. Whether you choose the velvety richness of gelato or the creamy delight of ice cream, you can always expect a fresh, flavorful treat.

Is gelato healthier than ice cream?

Good news for anyone with a sweet tooth—gelato is often lower in fat than traditional ice cream because it’s made with more milk and less cream. The result is a rich, flavorful treat that can feel a little lighter while still being completely satisfying.

At Gelato Junction, we focus on quality, flavor, and freshness in every batch. Our gelato starts with a simple base of milk and sugar, with some flavors incorporating egg yolks for added richness and depth. From there, each recipe is thoughtfully crafted to create a smooth, balanced flavor experience—whether it’s something classic or a little more indulgent.

Like many frozen desserts, some ingredients are used to ensure consistency, texture, and stability, allowing every scoop to meet the same high standard you expect. What matters most to us is delivering a product that tastes incredible and is made with care.

Of course, gelato has always been about more than nutrition. In Italy, enjoying gelato is part of everyday life—it’s about celebration, connection, and taking a moment to enjoy life’s little pleasures. As the Italians say, it’s a taste of la dolce vita.
